Foreign Currency Exchange

People usually exchange foreign currencies into Japanese yen at the airport or at a bank in the city.

Many Japanese hotels and department stores provide foreign currency exchange services as well, but they tend to impose relatively high commissions, or apply less favorable rates than what is available at a bank.

There are also some banks and affiliated foreign currency exchange agencies which deliver the desired cash directly to the buyer’s address in Japan.
