Banned Import Items
Before coming to work or study in Japan, it is recommended to check what items can be imported to Japan and what others cannot. Japan, like most other countries, bans import of ammunition and drugs by Customs Act. There are numerous other items import of which to Japan is strictly restricted by Customs Act.
Those who intend to import to Japan meat or processed meat products should refer to the official website of AQS (Animal Quarantine Service), a governmental organization which controls the Japanese quarantine system as a part of AFF (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries).
