Health Insurance and Pension Insurance in Japan
There are two types of social insurances in Japan, one is health insurance and the other is welfare annuity/pension insurance. Companies incorporated under the law of Japan are required to join these insurances, making sure employees are covered by such insurance programs.
Each employee bears half of the insurance fee and the employer covers the rest.
These types of insurances are available also for foreigners who intend to stay in Japan for more than one year and have completed Alien Registration.
