Shipment of Luggage & Customs Clearance
At the time of shipment of luggage and customs clearance, senders are required to submit related documents including a copy of passport.
With shipment by SEA, luggage should be shipped 2 to 3 weeks prior to the date on which the sender him/herself leaves for Japan where they intend to work or study, so that the luggage will arrive 1 to 2 weeks after the sender’s arrival in Japan.
To receive luggage, shippers must go though customs clearance procedures. However many forwarders fill in for shippers taking care of custom clearance procedures, and in such cases, shippers only need to send a copy of their passport and other necessary documents to the forwarder.
